The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) rated Coastal Manor 1 out of 5 overall for the first quarter of 2026, placing it below the Georgia nursing home average of 2.7.
The facility offered a total of 108 beds, three fewer than the statewide average as of the same period. It served an average of 84.6 residents in that time frame.
Coastal Manor reported zero fines or penalties in the first quarter of 2026.
Estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau show that the nation’s population of older adults is expanding while numbers of younger people decline. From 2020 to 2024, Americans age 65 and older grew by 13%, while the population under 18 dropped by 1.7%. Over the last century, the segment aged 65 and older increased substantially, rising from 4.9 million in 1920 to over 61 million by 2024.
Research from 2021 indicates that close to half of this population, or about 28 million people, could need long-term services and supports, with projections indicating that over a third might ultimately require nursing home care.
“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
