Cole Royer, a former Pierce County High School athlete, took the field for the Kennesaw State Owls on Sunday, Feb. 22, at 1 p.m. The Owls were defeated by the Florida Gators 12-9 in their NCAA Division I baseball game.
The teams faced off at Condron Family Ballpark, marking their third meeting against the Gators this season. Kennesaw State had previously dropped an 11-0 decision to Florida in their Saturday, Feb. 21, matchup.
Royer worked two innings, surrendering three earned runs while issuing two walks and collecting two strikeouts.
The Owls are set to play Georgia Southern Eagles next, with the game scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 6 p.m. at J. I. Clements Stadium.
