State Representative Sandy Donatucci has announced the dates and locations for the 2025 meetings of the House Study Committee on Improving Access to Internal Medicine in Underserved Areas. The committee, chaired by Donatucci, aims to address healthcare gaps in underserved regions of Georgia.

“I am truly enthusiastic about the launch of this healthcare study, which aims to address critical gaps facing underserved populations across Georgia,” said Rep. Donatucci. “This initiative represents a vital step forward in understanding and tackling the unique health challenges that exist within our communities.”

The scheduled meetings will take place at various locations: August 13 at Georgia Southern University, September 23 at Mercer School of Medicine, and October 1 at Northside Hospital in Lawrenceville. Specific times and additional location details will be provided before each meeting.

These meetings will be livestreamed and open to the public, offering an opportunity for community involvement and transparency.

The committee members include State Representatives Angie O’Steen, Leesa Hagan, Carmen Rice, Gary Richardson, as well as Dr. Jean Sumner from Mercer University, Dr. John Odum from Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University, and Dr. Angela Gerguis from Georgia Southern University.

Formed under House Resolution 753, the committee is tasked with evaluating effective strategies to improve access to internal medicine in underserved areas of Georgia, focusing particularly on communities facing transportation-related health service shortages.
