Optim Health System announced on Mar. 30 that five team members have been recognized with DAISY and BEE Awards across four of its facilities for their exceptional care and compassion.

The awards honor both nursing and non-nursing staff who provide outstanding service to patients and families. The DAISY Award is an international program recognizing the clinical skill and compassion of nurses, while the BEE Award acknowledges non-nursing team members who exceed expectations in supporting patients, families, and colleagues. Both are based on nominations from those directly impacted by their care.

This month’s honorees include Haylie Introcasto, LPN, at Optim Medical Center-Tattnall; Chiquita Stevens at Optim Medical Center-Tattnall; Dakota Lee, RN, at Optim Medical Center-Screven; Shunda King at Optim Pain Management in Savannah; and Stacey Breon, RN, at Premier Surgery Center in Brunswick. According to the announcement, these individuals were selected for acts such as offering personal attention during recovery, providing comfort items to patients without essentials, bringing reading materials to brighten a patient’s day, showing positivity when helping with insurance questions during difficult times, and creating a calm environment before procedures.

A family member nominating Shunda King said: “Each and every time, she does not fail to make us smile. Ms. King has such a beautiful and positive personality — it’s infectious and so, so lovely to be greeted with when having to come to such emotionally draining appointments.” Another nominator praised Stacey Breon: “Stacey was absolutely wonderful in answering all my questions as I was prepped for a cortisone shot. She was a calming influence. Stacey was professional, efficient, patient and sweet.”

Optim Health System congratulated all recipients for embodying values central to its approach throughout its facilities.
