Douglas-Coffee County Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Aug. 18
A Word from Lisa:
As a lifelong resident of Douglas-Coffee County, it has been my honor to serve the community in a public role since 1983. Upon my retirement from Coffee County Schools in 2015, I had all intentions of moving closer to my only child and newborn granddaughter in Texas. However, I quickly learned God's plan didn't quite align with mine and I have no doubt He placed me at the Chamber during a transitional phase when stablility was needed most. Serving over the last six years in multiple roles has definitely been one of the most rewarding experiences I didn't know I needed!
With an extremely talented staff now in place, my mission here is done and God has given me peace about leaving. Without a doubt, it is has been a bittersweet decision. My love for Douglas-Coffee County and the people in this amazing oasis of the south will never fade.
Emily Vickers Courson, also a lifelong resident of Douglas-Coffee County, is currently our tourism/events director doing a fabulous job and will fill in as interim chamber executive director. Please embrace Emily with your love & support as she and the staff carry on the torch!
