Baxley-Appling County Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Aug. 31
As we all know, COVID has taken and continues to take a toll on our community. Our healthcare workers are exhausted. From doctors and front line nurses to billing, clerks, janitorial staff, everyone at our local hospital is working tirelessly to treat patients and keep our community safe. The Chamber is organizing several efforts to help our healthcare heroes, starting with a “Stock the Pantry” snack drive.
Workers are not stopping to eat a solid lunch so we would like to collect food items and drinks from the list below to provide in the break areas at all of our hospital departments. This is not an exhaustive list, please feel free to donate anything you like or you think they would like for a snack while they are treating the sick in our community. It would be best if the items were in small packs so they can grab it, eat or drink it and then throw it away. Below are just a few items we thought of. Items can be dropped off at the Chamber of Commerce during regular business hours. We are planning to start delivering items to the hospital next Friday, September 3.
