The Andrew College softball team took a pair of games over Thomas Univ. JV at the Hord Athletic Complex on Monday afternoon, winning the opener 5-4 in the bottom of the 8th inning on Dale Elmore's walk-off, 2-RBI double, then pounded out 12 hits in the nightcap, easing to the 9-6 win.
Elmore drove a line drive to left center in the 8th inning, scoring the tying and winning runs, as Andrew rallied from two one-run deficits to take the 5-4 win. Elmore finished 2 for 3 with 2-RBI, and also picked up the win in the circle, tossing a complete game while scattering 7 hits and striking out 4. Taryn Strayer went 2 for 4 with a double and a run scored, Emily Phillips doubled in 3 runs, and Sarah Culp, Demonee Miles, and Alexis Copeland each had a base hit.
Strayer belted her 1st homer of the season in the nightcap, going 3 for 4 with an RBI and 3 runs scored, Culp went 2 for 4 with a double, a run scored and 2-RBI, Allyson Lanford went 2 for 3 with a run scored and an RBI, Hailey Stovall was 2 for 4 with a double and 3 runs scored, and Destiny Sexton doubled in a run, while Emilee Register picked up the win, scattering 8 hits in 6.0 innings, with 3 strikeouts.
Andrew travels to Cartersville, GA on Tuesday, for a 2:00 pm doubleheader against Georgia Highlands.
