The Andrew College baseball team split a doubleheader versus Gordon State on Friday afternoon at the Hord Athletic Complex, dropping game one 7-3, then rallied for 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning for the walk-off 10-9 win in game two, with right fielder Trevor Gruskza drawing a bases load walk for the winning run.
Game one was a tight affair until the top of the 7th inning when Gordon State scored 4 times, and held on the 7-3 win, as the Tiger offense was paced by Jack Hay who went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI and Ben Crawley who doubled twice, scored once, and drove in a run.
The Tigers jumped out to leads of 6-3 and 8-5 in the, before the Highlanders took a 9-8 lead in the top of the 5th inning, setting up the last inning heroics that ended with Gruskza's bases loaded walk. He finished 3 for 3 with a run scored and 3 RBI, Mitch Cowan went 3 for 4 with a pair of RBI, Crawley was 2 for 4 with 3 runs scored, and Blake Falor went 2 for 4 with an RBI, and Garrett Green came on in the 5th inning to shut down the Gordon State rally, then tossed two scoreless, hitless innings while striking out four to earn his 4th win of the year.
Andrew resumes the series with Gordon State in Barnesville, GA for a 1:00 pm doubleheader on Saturday.
