Today, Governor Brian Kemp announced the creation of a position within the Department of Administrative Services (DOAS) to help strengthen and support Georgia’s small business ecosystem. The Small Business and Supplier Diversity Manager will work to broaden communication and engagement with minority-owned businesses. “The Georgia Chamber commends Governor Kemp on this announcement as the creation of this position further shows his commitment to our statewide business community promoting the lives and livelihoods of all Georgians,” said Chris Clark, President & CEO of the Georgia Chamber.
“This announcement is an exciting first step on the road to economic equity in the state of Georgia. Ours is one of the most diverse states in the nation and home to many top-performing diverse businesses,” said Stacey J. Key, President and CEO of the Georgia Minority Supplier Development Council (GMSDC) and Chair of the Georgia Chamber’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council. “We look forward to working with the State of Georgia and supporting their supplier diversity initiatives. As we continue to elevate our role as the No. 1 State for Business, we believe this is an exciting opportunity for the small business community.” The Council estimates there are nearly one-thousand certified minority business enterprises that will now have a single point of contact in which to help secure state contracts.
