The 2022 Georgia Southern Women's Football Clinic was held Friday night at Allen E. Paulson Stadium as nearly 100 ladies met up at the venue for an evening packed with tours, drills, fun and a chance to learn about new head coach Clay Helton's program.
Participants began arriving at 5:30 p.m. at the Bishop Field House and were able to enjoy some light food before the program began. Once check-in was complete, Danny Reed and Helton welcomed the group to get things started. Coach Helton and his wife, Angela, did a Q&A with the group to help them understand better what the lifestyle of a football coach - and wife - is.
With introductions complete, the ladies headed outside to ride the Yellow Buses around Paulson to the Ted Smith Family Football Center and were split into three groups. As one team met with Strength & Conditioning coach Robert Stiner in the weight room and Director of Equipment Services Andy Harris to go over what the players wear, another group took a recruiting photo shoot in the Hall of Fame area and the third had a Football 101 session in the team meeting room.
During the group sessions, the women also got an Xs and Os breakdown of the team, learned about how the team trains and also got to feel what it was like to be on a recruiting visit. To wrap things up, Coach Helton gathered the group downstairs to head out to the field for a group photo and field drills. The drills included tackling dummies, passing into a net, running back hurdle drills and kicking field goals. Players and coaches helped out to assist the women with each of their drills and enhance the experience.
