The Camilla Fire Department received a $4,000.00 grant from our local railroad provider, OmniTrax, the parent company of Georgia & Florida Railway. The grant, from OmniTrax’s Safe Shipper Awards program, rewards shipping partners and/or public safety teams they work with to keep their rails safe. Georgia & Florida Railway Operations Manager Gene Renner commented, “I have been working with the Camilla Fire Department over the years from incident management planning to incidents at grade crossings. I know Chief Sullivan and team members of the Camilla Fire Department will respond and assist in protecting the public and keep our railroad family safe.” The Camilla Fire Department will use the funds to update rescue equipment carried on the fire apparatus.
