 The Georgia Southern Eagles ring in the new year with the diving squad competing at FIU and the swimming squad competing in the Orange Bowl Swim Classic.

Out of this weekend's events, the Eagles had four first-place finishes with Zuri Clavo and Logan Belanger each capturing two: Zuri Clavo (400 Free in 4:38.17, 200 IM in 2:29.36); Logan Belanger (50 Breast in 33.99, 100 Breast in 1:15.57).

Georgia Southern also had six second-place finishes this weekend at the Orange Bowl Swim Classic: Madlen Wendland (50 Fly in 30.48; 100 Fly in 1:06.64); Emma Scruggs (100 Back in 1:07.11, 50 Back in 31.90); Abby Wenham (100 Free in 1:00.76; 50 Free in 27.86).

Of the relays, the Eagles had a first-place finish, second-place finish and two fourth-place finishes. Emma Scruggs, Logan Belanger, Madlen Wendland and Abby Wenham placed first in the 200 Medley in 2:00.99. Abby Wenham, Emma Sutton, Carsyn Cosman and Madlen Wendland competed in the 200 Free finishing second in a time of 1:55.58. Lilly Karsa, Avery Sargeant, Jenna Maloy and Carsyn Cosman finished fourth in the 200 Medley in a time of 2:06.90. Rounding out the top relay finishes, Logan Belanger, Emma Scruggs, Melody Giberson and Jenna Maloy competed in the 200 Free finished fourth in a time of 1:55.68.

The Eagles had a dominant performance placing second out of six at the Orange Bowl Swim Classic. The final results from the 24 events are listed below:

Georgia Southern's divers traveled to the FIU Sprint Invite competing against FIU, South Dakota, Bowling Green, Northeastern, Oberlin College and Illinois Tech.

The Eagles' diving scores are as follows: Karlee Wells (1M: 217.05, 3M: 260.35); Anya Weber (1M: 206.30, 3M: 228.15); Megan Phifer (1M: 173.85, 3M: 215.85).
