Appalachian State used a 12-0 fourth quarter run to collect a 96-88 Sun Belt Conference women's basketball victory over host Georgia Southern on Saturday afternoon at Hanner Fieldhouse.

The Mountaineers improved to 7-10 overall and 3-3 in the Sun Belt with the win, while Georgia Southern fell to 11-4 overall and 3-3 in the league, suffering back-to-back losses for the first time this season.

App State led by as many as 11 in the first half, but Georgia Southern battled back to take a two-point lead, 55-53, at halftime. The Mountaineers and the Eagles went back-and-forth for much of the second half, and a Terren Ward three-pointer tied the game at 80-all with 7:47 left in the contest.

That's when the Mountaineers would go on their 12-0 run that covered the next 4:56, giving App State a 92-80 lead. The Eagles would get back-to-back three-pointers from Ward and Le'Andrea Gillis to cut the lead to four, 92-88, with exactly one minute left, but App State held the Eagles off the scoreboard in the final minute for the win.

Terren Ward led the Eagles with her sixth double-double of the season, scoring 25 points to go with 14 rebounds. Eden Johnson also secured a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Ja'nya Love-Hill scored a season-high 18 points. App State was led by Janay Sanders' career-high 26 points and Emily Carver's 21 points.

Eagle of the GameLove-Hill hit 7-of-13 shots from the floor en route to her season-high 18 point total, three shy of her career high of 21 set last season at Troy. Her assist on Terren Ward's game-tying fourth-quarter three-pointer was the 200th of her career, and she finished the game with five assists and just two turnovers.

Stat of the GameApp State's 96 points were scored by all five starters - the Mountaineers had zero bench points in the contest. In addition to Sanders' 26 points and Carver's 21 points, Faith Alston had 18 points, Brooke Bigott had 16 and A'Lea Gilbert had 15.QuotablesHead Coach Anita Howard on the fourth quarter scoreless stretch"We've got to figure out what we need to do when we go cold like that. And we need to be much better on the defensive end. We knew App wanted to shoot the three ball and spread us out. They did a good job executing their game plan. But giving up 96 points inside your own house is unacceptable."

On the first time suffering back-to-back losses this season"We've got to shake it off. We've still got several games to play, we can't dwell on it and not be prepared for our next game. We learned something from our last game about rebounding, and today we won the rebounding battle. But we allowed App to get hot shooting the ball in our gym."
