STATESBORO – Georgia Southern competes in its final tuneup before the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championship as the Eagles travel to the Samford Bulldog Open Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
The Birmingham CrossPlex will host the Sun Belt Indoor Championship Feb. 20-21, and this meet gives the Eagles a chance to get reacquainted with the venue and surface.
The Eagles are competing for the second straight weekend and coming off a good performance at the South Carolina Invite last Friday and Saturday. Devine Parker broke her own school record in the 200 and teamed with NaJ Watson, Megan Bolton and Scovia Ayikoru to break the 4x400 relay record. Parker ran the 200 in 23.65, while Ayikoru (23.84) and Watson (23.98) posted the second and third-best times in program history. The trio took second, third and fifth in the event.
They teamed with Bolton for a second-place finish in the 4x400. Sam Holbrook improved on her best in the weight throw (16.67), which is the fourth best toss in school history, to finish sixth, and Ayikoru's 7.54 in the 60m dash tied for the program's fourth best time.
