Six Eagles Named Indoor Track and Field All-Sun Belt

NEW ORLEANS – Scovia Ayikoru, Megan Bolton, Sofia Molina, Imani Moore, Devine Parker and NaJ Watson have been named Indoor All-Sun Belt, the league announced today.

Ayikoru earned first-team honors after medaling in all four events she competed in at the Sun Belt Indoor Championship. She set a meet and school record with a time of 53.17 in the 400 to win the event, and the fifth-year senior set a meet and school record in the 200 (23.37) prelims before finishing second. She took third in the 60-meter dash and ran the first leg of the first-place 4x400 relay, and her times in the 200 and 400 are also Uganda national indoor records.

Bolton, Molina and Watson earned first-team all-league accolades by winning the 4x400 relay along with Ayikoru and setting a meet and school record with a time of 3:42.47. Watson added a second-place finish in the 200 (23.43-2nd in GS history).

Parker was named second-team all-conference after placing second in the 60-meter dash with a school record time of 7.39. Imani Moore earned third-team All-Sun Belt honors by finishing third in the long jump (6.06m-3rd in GS history).

The Eagles placed fifth in the team standings, their best finish in the Sun Belt Indoor Championship after joining the league prior to the 2014-15 season.

Georgia Southern is scheduled to open the outdoor season March 17-18 at the Black and Gold Invite, hosted by UCF in Orlando.
