The Georgia Southern men's tennis program has earned its first-ever Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) NCAA Division I Men's Team Rankings, sponsored by Tennis-Point. The Eagles check in at No. 69 in the latest release, earning the first ITA national ranking for Georgia Southern men's tennis in program history.
The Eagles check in at 12-3 and are riding a nine-match win streak at the time of publication. After falling in a tight contest to UT-Chattanooga, 3-4, the Eagles have dominated opponents and have had some notable accomplishments, including defeating North Florida for the first time since 2008, posting back-to-back sweeps against Mercer and UAB, and defeating Georgia State for the first time since 2018, snapping a five-match losing skid to the Panthers.
Old Dominion (No. 71) is the only other Sun Belt team that appears in Tuesday's rankings. "They have put in a great amount of effort this season and have risen above each and every challenge they've faced as a team. They have truly recognized that their team, in its whole entirely, are far greater than the sum of their parts. While this news and achievement will be celebrated, there are so many more opportunities ahead of us to keep growing, and I know the men are excited to face those challenges. GATA!""Being ranked for the first time in the program history is a great achievement for us," said Georgia Southern coach Adrià Aguilar Guerrero. "The team deserves it. We need to keep working to achieve our goals this season."The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday, March 25, and Sunday, March 26, as they take on James Madison and No. 71 Old Dominion in road conference matches.
