Georgia Southern men's basketball fifth-year senior Kamari Brown earned the title of highest flyer in college basketball, winning the King's Hawaiian Slam Dunk Championship Thursday night in the Bayou Music Center.
Brown's final dunk earned him a score of 43 and was enough to take home the hardware, but his highlight of the night came on his second dunk of the final round when he showed off his 47-inch vertical leap by soaring over three competitors and finishing with a one-handed slam.
"I give all the glory to God, giving me the ability and the opportunity to showcase my talent," Brown said. "I talked to the girls the night before and told them I was gonna jump over them. They had full trust in me, and the rest was history."
Brown was able to come out on top over an eight-man field that featured Vanderbilt's Emmanuel Ansong, Ole Miss' Myles Burns, Northern New Mexico's Keane Jamal Harris, East Stroudsburg's Carlos Pepin, Milwaukee's Ahmad Rand, Pittsburgh's Nike Sibande and Radford's Shaquan Jules.
Brown recently completed his final year of eligibility and tallied 680 points, 317 rebounds, 91 assists, 54 blocks and 58 steals in 85 career games for the Eagles.
