FOIA Request Sent to Candler County Election Department Regarding Ballot Counting Methods on October 29, 2024

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Candler County Election Department in Georgia on October 29, 2024. The request, filed by SE Georgia News, sought information about the methods used by the department to count votes in the upcoming elections.

The news organization specifically asked for details on whether the vote counting process would be manual or automated. If the former, they requested an estimate of how many people would be involved in the counting process on election night.

In light of their role as a media outlet disseminating information to the public, SE Georgia News also requested a fee waiver for this information under their status as a media professional.

As of now, there has been no response from the Candler County Election Department regarding this FOIA request.
