FOIA Request to Coffee County Election Department Regarding Ballot Counting Methods on October 29, 2024. As a part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability in local government affairs, we at SE Georgia News have submitted a request under the Georgia Open Records Act § 50.18.70 et seq.

Our request is focused on obtaining detailed information about the methods used by the Coffee County Election Department for counting votes. Specifically, we are interested in whether these votes are counted manually or through some other method. If manual counting is employed, we have also requested an estimate of the number of people who will be working on election night.

As a media organization dedicated to comprehensive and accurate news coverage, access to such public records is crucial for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. This includes holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.

We believe that as media professionals involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver for this request. We await a response from the Coffee County Election Department and will keep our readers updated with any developments.
