FOIA Request to Tattnall County Election Department Regarding Ballot Counting Methods on October 29, 2024.

At SE Georgia News, we are committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs. In line with this commitment, we have sent a request under the Georgia Open Records Act § 50.18.70 et seq., for specific records from the Tattnall County Election Department.

The records requested include a list of methods being used by the department to count votes in the upcoming election. If any of these methods involve manual counting, we have also asked for an estimated number of people who will be working on election night.

As a media organization, our role involves gathering and reporting news to the public. Access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities, which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.

We await their response and will keep our readers updated on any developments regarding this matter.
