5 Questions With: Sonja Keranen | Georgia Southern University Athletic Department
The Georgia Southern women's tennis team is back on the court! All throughout the season, we'll give you a closer look at the team with our 5 Questions segment. Our next student-athlete is junior Sonja Keranen!
Sonja joined Georgia Southern as a freshman in 2020 and has been one of the best doubles players for the Eagles in her three seasons in Statesboro! Last year, she went 10-8 in dual match singles, playing as high as No. 2 in the lineup, and teamed with Elizabeth Goines to make up the Eagles' No. 1 doubles team! A native of Nurmijarvi, Finland, who also has Spanish dual citizenship, Sonja has collected 27 doubles wins over her Georgia Southern career!
1) Why did you choose Georgia Southern to play for the Eagles?
I chose Georgia Southern because the support staff here was amazing. The tennis program was exactly what I was looking for, competitive, with care and inclusion. As well as the location is pretty good!
2) What was your favorite toy growing up?
I love building Legos!
3) Who is the one person in your life that you look up to the most?
My Father, he was a kind and caring man.
4) What is your favorite food?
I love food! My favorite food back in Spain is Chinese food. But here, I love to go to Mexican restaurants.
5) Do you have a phrase, saying or song that helps you get through a particularly tough day?
