CMS 6th-grade students recently participated in a Project-Based Learning unit in Science. Project Based Learning is a teaching method in which students gain knowledge and skills by working for an extended period to investigate and respond to an authentic, engaging, and complex question, problem, or challenge.
Students heard from expert guest speakers to help them make a real-world connection to their learning. Students worked with peers to research a natural resource in Georgia, identify challenges caused by human impact, and communicate solutions to help protect their chosen natural resource. Student groups then planned and created a public service announcement video to reflect their learning.
After all the videos were completed, one winning video was chosen from each class. All the winning videos were voted on at our recent STEM Fair. The video that was chosen as the 1st Place Winner was created by Ashley Luna, Iker Vicente, and Elizabeth Mendez. Congratulations on a job well-done!
