How many students were enrolled in Wayne County schools for 2022-23 school year?

There were 4,887 students enrolled in Wayne County schools in the 2022-23 school year, 1.7% more than the previous year, according to reports from the Georgia Department of Education.

Boys made up 51.3% of the county's student body, while the other 48.7% were girls.

Data also showed that white students made up 61.1% of the student body, the largest percentage in Wayne County schools, followed by African American students with 22.3%, 9.9% Hispanic students, 5.5% multiracial students and 0.6% Asian students.

Wayne County High School stood out with the highest enrollment among Wayne County's eight schools in the 2022-23 cycle, welcoming 1,412 students.

As of 2024, Georgia has an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 15:1, which is better than the national average of 1:16. The state has its best student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1 in pre-kindergarten and middle school grades, while high school has an average ratio of 17:1.
