Which Evans County school saw the biggest enrollment in 2022-23 school year?

Claxton Elementary School had the highest enrollment among Evans County schools, welcoming 788 students during the 2022-23 school year, according to the Georgia Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 53% of them were male, and 47% were female.

The most represented ethnicity among Claxton Elementary School students was Black, with 36% of students identifying as such.

Among the four schools in Evans County, Claxton High School ranked second in enrollment numbers with 486 students, while Claxton Middle School welcomed 366 students to be ranked third in the 2022-23 school year.

Claxton Elementary School is part of Evans County School District, which generally encompasses schools within Evans County, with its main office in Claxton.

In the previous school year, Claxton Elementary School also had the highest number of students among Evans County schools.

According to the Georgia Department of Education, over 1.6 million students were enrolled in Georgia's public schools during the 2021-22 school year. The state boasted a diverse and closely distributed student body across grade levels, with roughly 44% of the students in elementary, 24.5% in middle school, and 31.5% in high schools.

The state also registered an ethnically diverse student body, with 34.4% of the students identified as white, 36.5% as Black, 17.1% as Hispanic, and 4.5% as Asian.
